Yipee!

Well I finally finished the comfortghan for my friend Tracy. I am so beyond happy about this b/c its the first afghan I have pieced together and it turned out the way it should have. Plus I had help from a lot of special women on Crochetville so a lot of love went into this blanket for a good cause. I mailed it to her on 12/12/07 and I just called to track it and its been delivered. I can't wait to see what she thinks of it. Here is a picture!

In a Funk...

The last few months I have been working on projects that were kind of "have to" not just for fun. Seems like when ever you have something that you have to make, it takes the fun out of making it just b/c you want to.

I made a baby blanket that was requested by one of Dh's co-workers for her to give to her cousin. I made a comfortghan for one of Dh's co-workers b/c her husband passed away. I have made several squares to send to other crocheters for comfortghans they were making for someone. Then I started a comfortghan myself for my friend b/c her mom is dying of cancer. I got everything done but putting the squares together for my friends comfortghan and I just dread sewing it together b/c I haven't ever done it before and I am scared it won't turn out.

Anyway, so I haven't been wanting to crochet the last couple of weeks b/c I am burned out. I hate feeling like that b/c I love to crochet and make new things all the time. I need to get this comfortghan done in time before my friend's mom passes away, maybe I will start it tonight...

Here is the baby blanket I made:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

The picture above is a ribbon I crocheted and added a pin to. I plan on making more and giving them to friends and family for them to wear this month. If you or someone you know has had breast cancer, you know what a horrible disease it is. I lost my mom at the age of 55 to breast cancer, it was the second time she was diagnosed with it within a 5 year period. It seems to be a growing epidemic and needs to be stopped. Be sure to make appointments to get an exam every year, it could save your life.

Stitch N' Bitch - The Happy Hooker Rules!

I have been hearing about this book for a while so I went to the library to see if they had it and low & behold they did. I have to say that after making a few patterns from the book that I love it and am totally addicted. I even bought my own copy on E-Bay. Here is the "one skein scarf" I made.

I plan on making almost everything in the book once I have my Christmas presents made. I highly recommend the book to anyone that is just learning to crochet or even the most experienced.

Sept. 12th is being declared National Crochet Day!

Join everyone at Crochetville.org on September 12, 2007 for a Day of Crochet! We are trying to spread the word to let as many people as possible know about this day. Who knows, maybe it will become a real holiday! Pass it around, tell your neighbor, tell your friends, tell your grandmothers, tell everyone!

The idea originated from a good ole' boy named Jimbo, go visit his blog and oooh and ahhh over his beautiful handcrafted crochet hooks!

Its been a while...

Since I have posted an update or crochet for that matter. I hadn't been crocheting for months until I found out a couple of my friends are pregnant. SinMy friend Tinisha found out she is having a girl so I made her a pretty pink and white baby blanket.

Then the last thing I have made lately is a little tote purse for my little girl. She is 17 months old and loves carrying things around so I thought she would like this little purse.

Right now I am just piddling with different projects. I think I am going to make a bunch of dishcloths to give in giftbaskets for Christmas and then I will do my traditional snowflake ornaments to put in Christmas cards.

Well its been a while since I posted an update so here it goes. Not much going on crochet wise, the weather has been nice here and its hard to stay inside and work on projects that I usually do in the winter. I have completed another round in 2 of my Yahoo crochet exchange groups. I will post pics tonight of the items I have received from the exchanges. I am debating on whether or not I will continue with the exchanges over the summer b/c I am just not motivated right now.

I am currently working on another round ripple baby blanket. If it wasn't for the nice weather, I would have had this one done by now. Here is a pic of it, this was taken when I first started working on it so its a lot larger now but not done yet.

There are so many projects I want to do but I don't really have the time right now. I hope to get 2 full sized afghans done by Christmas plus some small stuff for cards and gifts. Check back often b/c I am always adding new pics of my projects.

Being apart of the group...

I enjoy crocheting so much that I have joined several more Yahoo exchange groups. I am now in the CL Ornaments, CL Dishcloths, CL Doily/Coaster, and I just joined a new one today that is for exchanging anything crochet related. I have completed my 2nd exchange round in the ornaments group, my first round with the dishcloth group and I am getting ready to send my JIC (Just In Case) package to the doily/coaster group so I can get started with them next round.

Right now I am working on 2 different projects. I am making a varigated ripple afghan for my husband and myself and I am making a rectangular baby granny square blanket. I love making baby size afghans because they work up so fast, not because I actually have someone I am making them for, lol

First Crochet Exchange...

Well I completed my first crochet exchange a few weeks ago and it was fun. You get a partner and both of you list things and colors that you like and then you make something to send to them. We kind of had a theme this month which was Valentineso I made my partner a neat heart shaped coaster and then I made 2 other regular round coasters in a red, pink, white varigated cotton yarn- Peaches N' Cream. I posted pics of both in the Coaster section. My partner made me a really cute crochet doll and 2 coasters. I posted pictures of those in the exchange section.

I enjoyed that exchange so much that I am going to do it again in March and I also joined a dishcloth exchange for March as well. I can't wait to see what I get from that one!

Expanding My Talent

Well I wanted to crochet something different from baby blankets and snowflake ornaments so I decided to try my hand at a drawstring bag and I am glad I did! It turned out perfect, you can see a pic of it further down the page. I am glad I tried something different, I will definately be making more!

Taken a new turn...

My crochet addiction has taken a new turn, besides working on my 6th baby blanket since October, I now joined a crochet Yahoo group and an exchange. The exchange is where you have a partner and you crochet them something and send it to them, the do the same for you. Sometimes there is a theme, sometimes its your choice on what you make. I just joined to exchange so I am excited to see how it goes. The addiction continues...

A New Addiction...

Well I thought the people from my crochet group were crazy when they all said buying yarn is addictive. Ever since I picked crocheting back up, I can't help but to buy yarn at every store I go to that sells it. I pick it up even though I don't need any just b/c it was on sale or just b/c I wanted it to use it to make something out of at a later date. I check the sale ads at Hobby Lobby and Jo Anns to see if yarn is on sale. I never would have imagined yarn buying being an addiction, lol

How it all started...

I started crocheting about 7 years ago. My MIL was working on a granny square afghan and she showed me how to start it. My first project was a baby blanket. I started without having a pattern, I was just going to make a blanket from DC but I couldn't get the sides to even out b/c I wasn't chaining 3 at the end of the rows, so I got frustrated and quit.

Then my interest got sparked again just 2 years ago by my Dh's boss. She made all her employees crochet snowflake ornaments. She offered to help me get started again and taught me how to read patterns. The rest is history!

I had been working on new patterns for snowflake ornaments for my co-workers and I just recently made several baby blankets because both of my SILs are/were pregnant and I wanted to give them something special for the baby.

I just can't seem to get enough! I have been crocheting daily for the last several months. When I get something finished, I look for something else to start. I thought people were crazy for being addicted to buying yarn but I find myself looking at the weekly Hobby Lobby and Jo Ann ads to see if yarn is on sale, lol
